Note the other states including California that has the bill. Not in this link but in others there are other bills in the Louisiana legislature to further restrict pedophiles.

The recent Supreme Court ruling against the death penalty for child rapers, reasoned that murder was not a punishment equal to the crime. Death being irrevocable, where rape wasn’t. I personally had hoped that it was the right of the state to set the punishment. They didn’t. However as far a fitting the crime. The chemical castration or physical castration would be more appropiate. See also this video from Youtube of an interview of Bobby Jindal. He explains it better than I. Note near the end the part about the drilling in Louisiana. This guy is good. McCain could do worse. However I hope he doesn’t.

Here is a quote from Bobby Jindal. It is Jindal’s simple theory: “If you want to discourage something, tax it. If you want to encourage it, don’t tax it.” Gee -- I think I like that.
His whole approach to problem solving fits in with mine. Just wade in and start solving the problems with what’s at hand, get the process started, get the people working towards the goal and allow them to correct their mistakes as they happen. Because they will happen. Facilitate this kind of problem fixing. Nike had the right idea, “JUST DO IT”
Below is a link that’s saying all of the top candidates for VP for either Obama or McCain, aren’t interested. The link is from Newsmax. I actually hope Bobby does what he says and stays in Louisiana. He can get things done there, he can showcase his talents, and hone his talents. He would be good for the ticket come election time, but what a waste of talent.

It is about Democrats calling Joe Lieberman an attack dog for the Republicans. Lieberman is an independent who votes mainly Democrat on issues, he caucus‘s with the Dems. But calling him an attack dog, I would call that a personal attack. All Joe did was disagree with Obama about his position towards Israel. I’m glad I’m not a Democrat. I would have to worry that if I said anything against the party line, I would be shunned and personally attacked. As a Republican I take great joy in calling my leaders names. I guess I owe the Democrats for making my skin a little thicker. Without that I would go into a tirade every time someone didn’t agree with me. I would waste a lot of time that could be spent getting things done. Look at the Democrat congress and how much time they spend on tirades. How many impeachment motions have they come up with. How many investigations have they tried to start. How many things like the Fairness Doctrine are they trying to get passed????? How many attempts at de-funding the war have they tried? What have they actually accomplished ??? All they can do is blame their lack of leadership on the Minority party for disagreeing with them. They are the party in charge for crying out loud. They are the ones who should be leading the charge on the high cost of gas for example. The Republicans finally got off their butts, and are taking the initiative. No wonder Congress’s rating is lower than the Presidents. The American people aren’t as stupid and gullible as some of the leadership (in both parties) in Congress thinks.
The Republicans are starting to get the picture. Finally I haven’t heard much from Tom Cole lately, I hope he has been chastised and tries to change his ways. Like I say we have a chance here to seize the moment and run with it. We have a chance to turn this thing around. If the leaders don’t like it we need to go around them. We are starting to resonate with the public. There isn’t time for foot dragging and politics as usual. Cole is keeping quiet, hope he brings his talent to the effort just leaves the attitude at home. John Boehner is doing this in the House, Boehner is showing what a leader should be doing. Fighting skirmishes as a delaying tactic while marshalling what forces he can to win some smaller battles and make the case to the public. It is from the public that parties gain their strength their mandate.
I blame the Tom Cole’s and Elizabeth Dole’s of the Senate for squandering the progress we as a Party had made and were making bringing all people into our way of thinking by our actions, not just our talking. We had great African American leaders and were propelling them into power. Collin Powell, JC Watts, Michael Steele, the journalists like Walter Williams and my favorite Thomas Sowell, Condi. People of that stature and character were starting to crack the Democratic stranglehold on the African American vote. With Bill Cosby talking of values ect. Republicans were making headway. We, all Republicans were starting to earn back the American trust. Then our leaders let success beguile them. They started to become elite, they started breaking promises implied and actual. Again I use the treatment of Keith Butler as the epitome of their “country club” condescending “we know better than you” attitude. I started losing the trust I had in the leadership of the Republican party at that point. With George and his whole Big Government thing I lost more. As a conservative I nearly went the route of Ron Paul. A third party idea kept sounding better and better or at least the only option I had left. Then as I dug into the politics of the situation, I saw that there were other people like myself but way more influential. People within the Party. The Bush thing is over and it is plain to see outside of Iraq, it didn’t work. AT ALL. For “compassion” to work as a force it has to ACTUALLY solve problems, not make them worse. Bush’s compassion seemed to just be a cave-in to liberal ideas which had created the problems in the first place, and didn’t work then. Just made government bigger. It works less well now.

A Real Fistful of Truth, I missed yesterday
I usually don’t post again this quickly, but I missed McCain’s speech in New Orleans, yesterday.

Looks like John has decided to come out swinging. I can’t help but relate what my previous post was about to this speech. The idea that truth is such a novel idea recently in politics. More to the point John McCain is telling it like it is. While he lacks that certain finesse and nuance the pundits go ga ga over, I get the feeling he is shooting from the hip. The real tenor of his campaign and his soul has been put out there. The gauntlet thrown down. Not just for the other side but for the Republican leadership as well. I believe he is saying this is the campaign, this is what I‘m going after, what I believe in. Join with me, and we can win this thing. He has held his water well and if this speech is a portent of the things to come he has used his time well, while the Dems had their catfight.
John McCain has a chance here to lay out a new conservative agenda, by the sounds of his speech he has kept his ear to the ground and is using the best of the British Conservative and the Newt Gingrich models. The message he has had, but the delivery is where he has learned.

Wishful thinking abounds after reading the speech. I realize I’m making connections where none probably exist, but what the hey. Here they come.
The obvious connection to the “new modern conservatism” being created in England, see my side bar (Updates Across the Pond) In the same side bar I recently noted that the marketing guru for Cameron’s conservative message is coming to the US for 6 months, coincidence?
This kick off speech was given in New Orleans La. Is that too a coincidence? Bobby Jindal the young, confident, get things done, “Bottom up Politics” kind of guy from the British model happens to be Governor of Louisiana ! Also happened to be invited to visit John McCain and rumored to be on his short list for VP! Below a link to what I posted about Bobby before.

Newt Gingrich has also been tirelessly preaching in his own way the same kind of change in his book Real Change and a long time before that in many other efforts. If you check out his American Solutions web site and from there his others, you will see he has been doing more than preaching.
My real wishful thinking concept is that the leadership of the Republicans whole heartedly get behind this message and that John McCain does also. Mainly I’m afraid of the message not getting out. For this to work, look at Britain. It works there because they have a strong leader, who LET the message go to his head.! Also a bunch of young turks willing to work at it.
Sen. Obama and the Dems by trying to link President Bush to John McCain, have given John the opportunity the opening needed to show the obvious to the world. It has been obviously clear to most the differences. In the Media’s hatred for Bush they have praised McCain for all the times he has gone against “his” President and party for that matter.
He has been praised for his fight against earmarks. For his bipartisan efforts from Immigration to global warming. The Media is already hard at it to cover their tracks. It is also as obvious from Obama’s short record that he is the most liberal, pro big government senator in the Senate. John McCain points this out by saying the big government idea doesn’t work and he is the only one who has actually been fighting it. Not just talking about it. It doesn’t much matter where he picked up those ideas, what matters is that the gloves are coming off, what also matters is that the truth is plain to see. Lucky for Obama that he has so much money, he will need to remain lucky, for he will not win on words alone.

BOBBY JINDAL, WHO IS THAT ??
Bobby Jindal. WHO is that?
I started following Bobby since I first heard of him from his failed bid then his election to the US House, and then fell in love with him during the whole mess of Katrina. He seemed one of the silver linings in that dark cloud. Not much was made mention of his efforts during that traumatic time. He was always on the edges of the news. Others were in the spotlight. Like Sean Penn rowing a boat, the national guard helping a pollitician scurry back to save his slush money, and the media making sure people were able to see the misery up close and personal. Well Bobby was doing what he has always done. He brought his positive can do attitude or better yet the selfless what can I do attitude to the mess. Then with what little power as a member of the US House he had he was able to use it to make a dent in the bureaucratic mess unfolding in his state. In his heart he knew what I’m just learning, Actually helping people directly has become almost illegal, in most cases it is. The next election, the people of Louisiana recognized what he did if the Mass Media wouldn’t and elected him governor. He fits all the Politically Correct requirements the pundits condescendingly say McCain needs. You know the ones that have to do with counteracting the perceived age problem and let’s just say “diversity appeal”. Even because of all that I would urge McCain to select him lol. The one thing in Bobby’s favor I think is that he is not the flamboyant type, he won’t be trying to steal the spotlight. He’s my favorite kind of person, he’s a doer. The article below shows what he does and some of what I’ve said. I hope John McCain can see the common ground they both share in their get things done no earmark attitude, which is labeled in the Media as their Maverickness. It would be a great political risk for Sen. McCain to take, besides all the chance for negative punditry, there would be the risk of Bobby out shining John in the Media’s eyes. But then great leaders are sure enough of themselves and their ideas that they are willing to take gambles. If, the Next President of the United States wants someone by his side that will help him do what is possible to fight the bureaucracy to make government work, then I would urge John McCain to pick Bobby Jindal for his right hand man. His major drawbacks seem to be that Bobby is quiet, borders on genius, dislikes obstacles to getting things done. The list is long. Lol. I think though that I could over look them. The question is can the people who run those obstacles allow him to run? He was bad enough in Louisiana , dare they allow him loose in Washington.
